Phyllis R. Knox, age 82, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:25 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was valedictorian of her graduating class from Clymer High School and then graduated from Minneapolis Bible College. Along with her sister, Sylvia, Mrs. Knox started Assembly of God Church in Bryan. She then worked as a proofreader for The Bryan Times. Mrs. Knox worked in the family business, Knox Rental Service, in Bryan and then with Knox Linen Service in Edgerton for more than fifty years and was secretary and bookkeeper until her death. She was a devoted member of Trinity Bible Church in Edgerton. Phyllis R. Knox was born on January 5, 1928, in Clymer, New York, the daughter of Ralph and Eva (Place) Pitt. She married Robert E. Knox in January 1955 in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1979. Surviving are three sons, Bob Knox and Milo (Jane) Knox, both of Edgerton, and Greg (Mary) Knox, of Archbold, Ohio, and one daughter, Deb (Brian) Slocum, of Millbrook, New York, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Sylvia Sprandle, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Winifred “Ted” Karris, of Ripley, New York. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Knox, and one great-granddaughter, Addison Knox, both in January 2010, three sisters, Jean Volk, Doris Kananen and Bernice Fardink, and three brothers, Don, Howard and Bob Pitt. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2010, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 23, 2010, in the funeral home with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Preferred memorials are to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice.
