View video Tribute William Lewis Armstrong, age 78, of Bryan, Ohio died early Thursday, November 2, 2006 at his home after an illness of three years. Mr. Armstrong was employed by Simpson Industries in Edon, Ohio as a shift supervisor retiring in 1990 with twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1945 - 1947. He formerly was a longtime member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2283. William Lewis Armstrong was born November 10, 1927, in Sydney, Ohio the son of William E. and Myrtle A. (Schaffer) Armstrong. He married Virginia Shiplett on June 28, 1947 in Angola, Indiana and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William E. (Maryory) Armstrong, of San Diego, California, Thomas E. Armstrong, of Bryan, Ohio, two daughters, Deborah S. (Rich Green) Thiel, of Hillsdale, Michigan, Karen Armstrong, of Montpelier, Ohio, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three sisters, Pat Hay, of Bryan, Ohio, Shirley M. Tibbs, of Angola, Indiana, Linda K. (Steve) Welmer, of Bradenton, Florida, three brothers, Earl (Evelyn) Armstrong, of Hamilton, Indiana, Gene (Diane) Armstrong, of Perry, Ohio and Larry (Kay) Armstrong, of, Clear Lake, Indiana. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Glenna Derringer and Eileen Armstrong and one nephew, Timothy Beck. Services for William Lewis Armstrong will be Monday, November 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio with Earl Armstrong officiating. Interment with follow in Columbia Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Edon American Legion Post #662. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon, Ohio. Memorials in the name of William Lewis Armstrong may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
