View Video Tribute James R. “Jim” Myers, 66 years, of Bryan, died at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier, Ohio, where he was a patient the past several days. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Galion High School and also attended the University of Toledo, where he received his certification to teach. Jim served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1962-1966. He was the owner and operator of Myers & Associates Printing in Bryan, Ohio, from its opening in 1990 until his retirement in 2004. Prior to this, Jim worked at LBA Custom Printing in Toledo as a salesman, the Hamblin Company in Tecumseh, Michigan, also in printing sales. He taught printing at Four County Joint Vocational School in Archbold for 13 years. Jim began his career in printing in 1961 at Fisher Printing Company, Galion, Ohio, working in pre-press and bindery, taking time out while he served in the Coast Guard, returning in 1966, and working there until 1972 as a press operator. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, and Knights of Columbus Chapter 1915, Bryan. He was a life member of the American Vocational Education Association and the Ohio Vocational Education Association. He was also a past member of the Clear Lake Yacht Club since 1986, serving on the Board of Directors from 1990-1992. In his youth, Jim was active in the Boy Scouts, attained the rank of Eagle Scout and also the Alta Tari Dei Cross. James R. “Jim” Myers was born on July 4, 1940, in Galion, Ohio, the son of Floyd O. “Dutch” and Helen R. (Unterwagner) Myers. He married Judith A. Hamel on May 17, 1969, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Canton, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Myers is survived by one son, Christopher (Amy) Myers of Vienna, Virginia, and one daughter, Kathleen (Scott) Fruchey, of Bryan; three grandchildren, Grace and Thomas Myers and Emma Fruchey; one brother, John (Winifred) Myers of Galion, Ohio; one niece, Beth (Scott) Lake, of Lexington, Ohio, and two nephews, Joe Myers, of Hillard, Ohio, and Mike (Jana) Myers, of West Chester, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for James R. Myers will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, Ohio, with Father Charles Ritter officiating. Private interment will take place later at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Visitation for Mr. Myers will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Scripture Service will be held Friday at 8:00 p.m. Memorials in the name of James R. Myers may be given to CHWC-Hospice Care or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
