Joseph H. Bishop, age 77, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 12:32 A.M. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Bishop retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, serving from 1950-1969. After his retirement he worked in the newspaper industry in ad copy approval and delivery. Joseph H. Bishop was born April 25, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Joseph H. and Mary Isabella (Atkinson) Bishop, Sr. He married Shirley N. (Schwiesow) Goulette on April 25, 1982, in West Covina, California, and she survives. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Rick Goulette, of Wauseon, Ohio, Mike Goulette, of Bryan, Steve Goulette, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Susan (George) Mabee, of Seattle, Washington, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two brothers, David and Donald Bishop, both of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sally Bishop. Grave side services for Joseph H. Bishop will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. in Ney Cemetery, Ney, Ohio, with Pastor Michael Kelly officiating. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Bryan VFW #2489. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
