Irene C. Gerdeman, age 91, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 3:12 A.M. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, Ohio, where she was admitted on Monday after a sudden illness. Mrs. Gerdeman was a long-time housekeeper for Father David D. Moore and worked for him at St. Michael’s Ridge and at St. Mary, Edgerton. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, the Rosary Altar Society, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She had been active with the Edgerton Senior Center. Irene C. Gerdeman was born on October 6, 1918, in Leipsic, Ohio, the daughter of Mathias and Josephine (Kreinbrink) Diemer. She married Rudolph Gerdeman on November 17, 1944, in New Bavaria, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1975. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Fred (Lucy) Grieser, of Napoleon, Ohio, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ronald (Cindy) Gerdeman, of New Bavaria, one grandson, James Gerdeman, of Holgate, Ohio, one granddaughter, Mrs. Brad (Carrie) Smith, of Delta, Ohio, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were one son, Ronald R. Gerdeman in 2002 and an infant son, Norbert Gerdeman, in 1945; four sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Bertha) Schroeder, Mrs. William (Odelia) Schroeder, Mrs. Len (Sally) Rieman, and Mrs. Tom (Marie) Kahle; and two brothers, Sylvester John Diemer and Lawrence Diemer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with recitation of the rosary to follow at 5:00 P.M. Services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Reverend Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, Edgerton.
