Harley Faber, age 84, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 5:28 P.M. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the University of Toledo Medical Center after an illness of several months. Mr. Faber owned and operated Faber Excavating for over thirty years. He was a veteran of the Naval Construction Battalion, serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was a fifty-year member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, a sixty-year member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion, a Life member of Bryan VFW Post #2489, and a member of Bryan Moose Lodge #1064. Harley Faber was born on July 12, 1926, near Edon, Ohio, the son of Harley and Mabel (Brim) Faber. He married Mary Jane Clark on October 11, 1950, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Susan (Robert) Lawson, of Bryan, Ohio, one son, Thane (Darla) Faber, of Edgerton, six grandchildren, Dustin (Tina) Bass, of Montpelier, Ohio, Gregory Bass, of Bryan, David, Zachary, Karley and Dacoda Faber, of Edgerton, two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Amanda Lawson, seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Daryke, Dylan and Gavyn Bass and Arielle, Alyssa and Jayden Bass, and two step-great-grandchildren, Candice Lawson and Alexia Scouten. Also surviving are two nieces, Shirley Young, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Candace Cunningham, of Richmond, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Darrell, one son, Thomas, a granddaughter, Heather Bass, and a great-granddaughter, Alyvia Bass. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, where grave side military rites will be conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Memorial contributions are requested to the Williams County Veterans Memorial in Montpelier.
