View Video Tribute Martha J. Beard, age 52, of rural Butler, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after an extended illness. She was a graduate of Eastside High School and was employed as a teachers assistant at the Children First Center in Auburn, Indiana from 1989-97 and at Lexington Elementary School in Lexington, South Carolina. She was a member of the Coburn Corners Church of Christ near St. Joe, Indiana. Martha J. Beard was born July 16, 1953 in DeKalb County, Indiana, the daughter of Harold and Alice (Hart) Kagey. She married Ronald D. Beard on June 23, 1973 at Coburn Corners, Indiana and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Laura Beard, of Auburn, Indiana, Tim (Tara) Beard, of Lexington, South Carolina, Alicia (Michael) Graves, of Auburn, Indiana and three grandchildren, T.J. Beard, Katie and Ethan Graves. Also surviving are a brother, Donald (Vicki) Reed, of South Bend, Indiana, nine sisters, Anne Reas, of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Hammon, of Waterloo, Indiana, Marie (Jerry) Logenbaugh, of Pendleton, Indiana, Mary (Ron) Miller, of Auburn, Indiana, , Jennifer, (Randy) Putt, of Vicksburg, Michigan, Dianna (John) Huttson, of Boerne Texas, Ruth (Wayne) Butler, of Bucyrus, Ohio, Donna Oswalt, of Mishewauka, Indiana and Elaine Thorpe, of Citrus Heights, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Richard Kagey. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, July 2, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at Coburn Corners Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Turpen officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio. There will be no public visitation. Memorials in the name of Martha J. Beard may be given to Riley Childrens Hospital or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
