William Herman, 85, of Edon, Ohio, died at 8:06 P.M. on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at The Inn and Villas of Fountain Park in Bryan, Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Herman was a graduate of Edon High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He operated Herman’s Store in Edon, Ohio, from 1962-1977 and the was employed by The Aro Corporation and then by Metaldyne in Fremont, Indiana, until his retirement. He was a member of the Edon Church of Christ and Edon American Legion Post #662. William Herman was born on July 14, 1925, in Edon, Ohio, the son of William and Thelma (Aldrich) Herman, Sr. He married Pauline H. Fox on June 27, 1948, in Edon, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2008. He is survived by four children: Doug (Irene) Herman, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kathy Sanders, of Edgerton, Ohio, Jim (Karyn) Herman, of South Lyon, Michigan, and Kay (Jerry) Thiel, of Fremont, Indiana; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Dottie Roberts, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and one brother, Duane Herman, of Edon. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Haas and Bettie Meyer, and one great-grandson. Services for William Herman will be on Monday, October 25, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edon Church of Christ, Edon, Ohio, with David LaDuke, Minister, and Daniel Gallagher, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Edon Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Edon American Legion Post #662. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Memorials in the name of William Herman may be given to the Edon Church of Christ or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Hospice Care.
