View Video Tribute Herman J. Wischmeyer, age 64, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, after an extended illness. He was an assembler at The Aro Corporation for thirty-one years and worked as a warehouse employee at Spangler Candy Co. for five years. He served in the U.S. Army in 1968-1969, including a tour in Viet Nam. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, Ohio. His other memberships include Stryker Sportsmen Club, of which he was a life member, Williams County Conservation League, Williams County Bow Hunters, NRA, and Bryan VFW Post 2489. Herman J. Wischmeyer was born on July 3, 1943, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Clarence J. and Bessie (Strup) Wischmeyer. He married Mary Ann Von Deylen on June 19, 1971, in Stryker, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wischmeyer is survived by one daughter, Rebecca (Jim) Lands, of Stryker, Ohio, one son, Samuel J. (Michelle) Wischmeyer, of Bryan, Ohio, two grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Lands, two step-grandchildren, Joseph and Zachery Ford,and two sisters, Joan Davis, of Bryan, Ohio, and Clare Fiser, of Defiance, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Wischmeyer, and one sister, Mary McCord. Funeral services for Herman J. Wischmeyer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, Ohio, with Pastor Dale Kern officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery with military grave side rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post 2489. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2007, from 2-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Memorials in the name of Herman J. Wischmeyer may be given to St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Williams County Conservation League Building Fund.
