James E. Watson

View Video Tribute James E. Watson, 68 years, of Bryan, Ohio, went to meet his heavenly Father on Saturday, September 16, 2006. He was the son of Dwight and Violet (Mulvany) Watson. He grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. He joined the U.S. Navy upon his graduation from Bloomington High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army for six years. He was self-educated in the field of engineering. He was co-owner of Spake & Watson TV Repair in Butler, Indiana. The bulk of his career was spent at Ohio Art Toy Company in Bryan, Ohio, where he rose to the position of Director of International Business Administration before he retired in 2003. Jim leaves his beloved wife of 43 years, Claire W. (Peters) Watson, and his two daughters, Heather Becker, of Noblesville, Indiana, and Amber Dimoff, of Cleveland, Ohio; sons-in-law, Robert Becker and Maximilian Dimoff; six grandchildren, Rachel, Benjamin, Allison, and Aaron Becker, Isabel and Xavier Dimoff; two sisters, Rebecca Haynes, of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Teri Guevara, of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Watson. He was instrumental in the development of Ohio Art’s Etch A Sketch Animator and The Ghost Writer. He traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the Pacific Rim in developing Ohio Art’s productions. He was a faithful member, lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, Ohio. He served his community by serving a two-year term as President and Board Member of Habitat for Humanity in Williams County. He loved to build, be it toys or houses; he was in his element in creating. He put an entire addition on his house, by himself, in his sixties. He was an accomplished artist and played the guitar. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and tennis. In his later years, he loved to play cards or do crosswords with his beloved, Claire. He will be greatly missed by those he helped and loved. He leaves behind a legacy we all can strive to follow. Visitation for Mr. Watson will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 704 South Portland Street, Bryan, with Father Dale Ehrman officiating. Private interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in the name of James E. Watson may be given to Williams County Habitat for Humanity, St. Patrick Catholic Church or Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care.
