Robert A. Heisler, age 87, of rural Hicksville, Ohio, died at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in Hicksville, where he was a resident, after an extended illness. Mr. Heisler was a life-long farmer and a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton, Ohio, where he had served as chairman of the Building Committee during the construction of the church and the parsonage and was the church organist for fifty-three years. He formerly served on the Central Local School Board for two terms and on the Defiance County School Board for two terms. He was a member of the Sherwood Farm Bureau Council, and served on the board of the Ney Elevator for nine years and on the Defiance County Soil and Water Conservation board. Robert A. Heisler was born on March 13, 1920, near Hicksville, Ohio, the son of Albert and Clara (Fischer) Heisler. He married Agnes F. Schroeder on April 19, 1941, in Sherwood, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Heisler is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Lew) Burggrave, of Hicksville, Ohio, and Carolyn (Jerry) Springer, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, one son Noel (Marti) Heisler, of Oregon, Ohio, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother and sister and one granddaughter. Services for Robert A. Heisler will on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Sigmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Memorials in the name of Robert A. Heisler may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
