View Video Tribute Dorothy L. Dunkle, age 80, a life-long resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Bryan, Ohio. She was a 1944 graduate of Edgerton High School and attended Bowling Green State University in music education. A homemaker and avid reader, Mrs. Dunkle was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church and the John D. Smith Post #10 American Legion Auxiliary. In the past she served as a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader and long-time head of the Election Board in Edgerton. She was instrumental in organizing Rainbow Girls in Edgerton and was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy L. Dunkle was born on November 15, 1926, in Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of Edwin C. and Mabel M. (Gabriel) Krill. She married Charles L. Dunkle on March 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2006. Mrs. Dunkle is survived by two daughters, Cheryl VanCoppenolle, of Bryan, Ohio, and Robyn Higginbotham, of Irving, Texas, five sons, Jim (Nha) Dunkle, of Azuza, California, Rick (Marilyn) Dunkle, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Bruce (Barbara) Dunkle, of Mumfordville, Kentucky, Brian (Kathy) Dunkle, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Jeff (Mindy) Dunkle, of Duarte, California. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Hilda Meyers, of Smithville, Tennessee, and Joan (Raymond) Riehle, of Edgerton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha J. Pirtle, and one brother, C. Jon Krill. Services for Dorothy L. Dunkle will be on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Gleason officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. Memorials in the name of Dorothy L. Dunkle may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
