Marie R. Casebere, age 89, of rural Edgerton, Ohio, died at 4:32 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, Indiana, where she was resident for the past three years. Mrs. Casebere was a nurses’ aide and worked at DeKalb Memorial Hospital for fifteen years until her retirement. She had formerly worked at Syncro in both Hicksville and Edgerton and Crane-Edmund in Butler, Indiana. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hicksville, Ohio, Pythian Sisters and Priscilla Club in Edgerton, Ohio. Marie R. Casebere was born on August 30, 1917, in Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Ira and Oma (Rex) Lantz. She married Owen Hastings Casebere in November of 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1974. Mrs. Casebere is survived by one son, Larry Casebere, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a daughter, Janet (Bernard) Shafer, of Butler, Indiana, one stepdaughter, Pat (Nile Lavon) Day, of Bryan, Ohio, six grandchildren, Peter, Philip and Stacy Casebere, Tamara (Felix) Melchor, Lisa Nelson and Dawn (Jared) Olson, and two stepgrandchildren, Lee (Jodie) Day and Dean (Rosie) Day. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Minnig, of Hicksville, Ohio. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Gerlock, Helen Maloney and Frieda Lantz, and three brothers, Roy, Harry and Elmer Lantz. Services for Marie R. Casebere will be on Tuesday, August, 28, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, with Reverend Daniel Fugate officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2007. Memorials in the name of Marie R. Casebere may be given to the Edgerton Senior Center or the Friends of the Edgerton Library.
