Ray E. Kline, age 83, of Montpelier, Ohio, died on Friday, September 14, 2007, in his home. Mr. Kline was employed at GM Powertrain of Defiance for thirty years, retiring in 1978. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 102nd Infantry from 1943 to 1945. While in the service, he attended Georgetown Catholic University in the engineering college. He was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church, the Bryan Post #284 of the American Legion and UAW Local #211. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of GK River Bottom Hunt Club. Ray E. Kline was born on July 26, 1924, in Holgate, Ohio, the son of Herman and Leanna (Cramer) Kline. He married Jeanette Retcher on July 6, 1942, in Butler, Indiana, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kline is survived by five daughters, Susan (Bill) Schwab, of Holgate, Darlene (Gary) Ordway, of Clearwater, Florida, Diane (Lester) Kruse, of Paulding, Peggy (Frank) Lantz, of Montpelier, and Deborah (David) Hoffman, of McClure, one son, Timothy (Rosalind) Kline, of Montpelier, 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Brown and Mary Burkhart, both of Holgate. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Margaret Fauver, and three grandchildren. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16. Services and interment for Ray E. Kline will be private with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Ray E. Kline may be given to Cancer Assistance of Williams County or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Hospice Care.
