Doris Lucille (Luke) Gurwell, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio in Bryan, where she was a resident. Doris was a lifelong resident of Bryan, Ohio, and was the tenth child in a family of eleven children. She was a graduate of Bryan High school and was employed by Spangler Candy Company and then by Bryan Custom Plastics from 1955 until her retirement in 1986. Doris Lucille (Luke) Gurwell was born on August 8, 1924, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas Harley and Lola Bell (Mundy) Luke. Mrs. Gurwell is survived by one son, Gregory A. (Charlene M.) Gurwell, of Bryan, Ohio, two grandsons, Jonathan Gurwell, of Bryan, Ohio, and Jason M. (Angie) Gurwell, of Defiance, three great-grandchildren, Jakob Gurwell, of Defiance, Ohio, and Danielle and Joshua Gurwell, both of Bryan, Ohio. She is also survived by four sisters, Margery Baker, of Georgetown, Texas, Mildred Smith, of Archbold, Ohio, Lorene King, of Bryan, Ohio, and Helen Taylor, of Edon, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Lena Luke, of Bryan, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry L. Gurwell and James R. Gurwell, and six brothers, Dale, Dean, Seldon, Donald, Gerald and Kenneth Luke. Doris was a devoted, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She has been a blessing to the many lives she has touched. We will miss her laughter, warmth and loving ways that were so important to each and everyone of us. Grave side services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. in Brown Cemetery near Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Tracy officiating. Service arrangements for Doris Lucille Gurwell are with Krill Funeral Service at 860 West Mulberry Street in Bryan, Ohio.
