Robert J. Gulyas, age 76, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died at 9:08 P.M. on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was a patient. Mr. Gulyas was employed as a wire inspector and diamond die polisher at Phelps Dodge, Indiana Rod and Wire, retiring with thirty-four years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Izaak Walton League and the NRA. Robert J. Gulyas was born on December 27, 1933, in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, the son of John and Julia (Hanak) Gulyas. He married Elizabeth J. Hartley on June 29, 1963, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Dr. Lisa (Robert) Bergeron, of Fort Wayne, one son, John Paul (Kelly) Gulyas, of Greenfield, Indiana, four grandchildren, Ian and Henry Gulyas and Robby and Mary Bergeron, and two brothers, John Gulyas, of Columbia City, Indiana, and Donald Gulyas, of Sanger, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and George Gulyas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 29, 2010, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, Ohio, with Reverend Stephen Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held in the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
