Brenda J. Scantlen

Brenda J. Scantlen, age 42, of Defiance, Ohio, died at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, following a long battle with cancer. Brenda was a home health care worker for various health care providers in the area. Brenda J. Scantlen was born on November 9, 1966, in Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Larry J. and Kathy (Clappe) Wygant. She married Anthony M. Scantlen on February 28, 1994, in Defiance, Ohio, and he survives. Brenda is survived by three sons, Jordan Follett, Mikel Scantlen and Nicolas Scantlen, all of Defiance, one granddaughter, Cadince Flynn, of Hillsdale, Michigan, her parents, Larry and Kathy Clappe, of Montpelier, and one brother, Wes (Judy) Wygant, of Ney, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, William Flynn. Visitation for Brenda J. Scantlen will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 2-5 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will follow at 5:00 p.m. Memorials in the name of Brenda J. Scantlen may be given to the family.
