Ladyne C. Kurtz

Ladyne C. Kurtz, age 87, of Blakeslee, Ohio, died at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, where she had been a patient for one day. She was 1938 graduate of Montpelier High School. Mrs. Kurtz worked as a housekeeper for the Plaza Motel in Bryan, Ohio, for sixteen years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Blakeslee, the Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Ladyne C. Kurtz was born on May 5, 1920, at St. Michael Ridge in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of William and Leota (Oberlin) Keller. She married Harold M. Kurtz on October 5, 1940, in Blakeslee, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1997. Mrs. Kurtz is survived by four sons, William (Denise) Kurtz, of Butler, Indiana, Tom (Vickie) Kurtz, of Edon, Ohio, Donald Kurtz, of Blakeslee, Ohio, and Steve Kurtz, of Edgerton, Ohio, four daughters, Carolyn (Bob) Richmond of Auburn, Indiana, Mary (Bill) Word of Camden, Michigan, Elaine (Ken Houghton) Lirot, of Bronson, Michigan, and Jane (Tom) Lambcke, of Lagrange, Indiana. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Martha Mayer, of Holgate, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christopher Kurtz and Jamee Lirot, three infant daughters, one infant son, two brothers and three sisters. Services for Ladyne C. Kurtz will be on Friday, October 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, Ohio, with Fr. Stephen Schroeder and Fr. Fred Duschl officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Blakeslee, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, with a scripture service on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Ladyne C. Kurtz may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
