Ralph E. Oberlin, 85 years, of Bryan, died on Thursday, June 14, 2007, in his residence. An Army Air Corp. Veteran of World War II, Ralph was a self-employed farmer for 43 years. He also was a utility man for the former Aro Corporation for 17 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan, and the Bryan American Legion Post 284. Mr. Oberlin was a Center Township Trustee, serving for eight years. Ralph E. Oberlin was born on August 23, 1921, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Warren Elwood and Bernice Opal (Lint) Oberlin. He married Mildred V. “Mid” Ridenour on November 12, 1947, in Edgerton, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mildred, Ralph is survived by his daughter, Calista P. Davis, of Marysville, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Gwen (Pastor Michael) Pope, of Fayette, Missouri; six grandsons, Dr. John (Lesley) Oberlin, of Beavercreek, Ohio, Todd Oberlin, of Fayette, Missouri, Allen (Sue) Davis, of West Salem, Ohio, Thomas Davis, Shawn Davis and Daniel Davis, all of Marysville, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and MacKenzie Oberlin, of Beavercreek, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rick Dwight Oberlin, an infant sister, Dorothy Oberlin, and one sister, Mildred Morton. Funeral services for Ralph E. Oberlin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 903 Center Street, Bryan, with Pastor Dwight E. Bowers officiating. Private interment will be made at Farmer Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Oberlin will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church. Memorials in the name of Ralph E. Oberlin may be given to Wesley United Methodist Church or Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care.
