View Video Tribute David L. Ludeker, age 66 years, of Farmer, Ohio, died on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after complications from surgery on Thursday. David was a 1958 graduate of Farmer High School, being a member of the last class to graduate from Farmer High School. He was a former employee of Winzeler Excavating, Mark Moats Ford Auto Sales and retired in July 1988 after serving 14 years with the Defiance County Sheriff Department, ending his career as a Sergeant. David was an honorary member of the former Defiance County Posse, now called the Defiance County Associates. He also served as a dedicated volunteer on the Farmer Fire Department and Farmer Rescue Squad for 24 years. Mr. Ludeker was a member of the Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and the Farmer United Methodist Church. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who loved music, camping, fishing and sharing tales with family and friends. David L. Ludeker was born on June 17, 1940, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Delmar William and Marian “Maxine” (Keller) Ludeker. He married Madeline E. Corthier on February 14, 1960, in Farmer, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ludeker is survived by one son, Joseph, of Farmer, Ohio, one daughter, Christine (Hugh) Barnett, of Crossville, Tennessee, one grandson, Joshua David Ludeker, of Farmer, Ohio, two brothers, Donald (SusAnn) Ludeker, of Butler, Indiana, and John Ludeker, of Marshall, Michigan, three sisters, Rose Marie Giles, Marilyn Ludeker and Margaret “Midge” Ludeker, all of Farmer, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Margaret McBride, of Bryan, Ohio, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and infant brother, James Darwin Ludeker. Funeral services for David L. Ludeker will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2007, in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Tom Bates officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Ludeker will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, from 4-9 in the funeral home. Due to David’s love of nature and all living things, the family is requesting that memorials in the name of David Leroy Ludeker be given to the Bryan City Parks and Recreation Department for the placement of a bench, bird feeder, tree, bird house or squirrel feeder in his memory and for all God’s creatures to enjoy.
