Ellen “Elly” May Herman, age 54, of Edon, Ohio, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after battling cancer. Her family would like to extend their thanks to the Parkview staff for the excellent care they gave to Ellen. A 1981 graduate of Edgerton High School, Ellen was a homemaker who enjoyed sharing her numerous talents through Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H. She was involved in 4-H for 24 years and was the organizational leader for the Heartland 4-H’ers. Her hobbies included sewing, crafting and taking pictures. She also was the host mom to several exchange students throughout the summer months. Her memberships included St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton. Ellen M. Herman was born on March 12, 1963, in Lima, Ohio, to Delmas and Phyllis Hicks. She married Chris Herman on August 2, 1986, and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Schaun (Ashley DeMarcus) Studer and Adam (Molly Myers) Herman, both of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Tiffany Studer, Ashley (Joshua McNalley) Herman, both of Edgerton, and Abbigail Herman, at home; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Kailyn; her mother; one brother, Robert (Camie) Hicks; one sister, Della Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her father and her in-laws, Ronald and Marilyn Herman. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic School or to Williams County 4-H.
