Zachariah W. McAfee, age 40, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 1:41 A.M. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after an extended illness. Zach was a 1995 graduate of Bryan High School and had been employed by L.E. Smith Company in Bryan as a CNC machine operator for twenty years. He was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, where he was currently pianist. He will be sadly missed by his local community theater family, where he was active in everything from building the sets to performing and directing. He also loved WWE “wrastling” and watching lots and lots and lots of movies.
Zachariah W. McAfee was born on March 6, 1977, in Nuremberg, Germany, the son of Robert J. and Alona J. (Goldsmith) McAfee. He married Jodi L. Kittle on December 31, 2016, in Bryan and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepsons, PFC Dylan Batterson and Issac Stoy; his parents, Alona (William) Martin and Robert McAfee, both of Bryan; and one brother, Jacob McAfee, of Wabash, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Alona McAfee.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Edgerton United Methodist Church. Services celebrating Zach’s life will follow at 1:30 P.M. in the church with Reverend R.L. Barnett officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family for expenses.
