Donald E. Rubel, age 86, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2017, in his home surrounded by family after an extended illness. Mr. Rubel was 1949 graduate of Bryan High School and was employed by Pet Milk in Bryan for thirty-five years until his retirement. He then went to work for the city of Bryan Parks and Recreation Department retiring for a second time with twenty years of service. Don was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Bryan Moose Lodge #1004, and he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and reading.
Donald E. Rubel was born on January 2, 1931, in Bryan, the son of Olan and Bertha (McDonald) Rubel. He married his wife of sixty-six years, Marguerite A. Easler, on June 23, 1951, in Edgerton, Ohio and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Rita (Mike) Kaufman, of Bryan, Thomas (Katie) Rubel, of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Barbara (Shawn) Baldwin, of Kent, Washington, Susan (Robert) MacLaren, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Carol (John) Rozinski, of Chandler, Arizona; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother Ned (Becky) Rubel, of Adrian, Michigan; and one sister Mim Castor, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Jim Rubel; two sisters, Lois Clarke and Sharon Newing; one step sister, Phyllis Hagelberger; and his step mother, Dorothy (Steele) Rubel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Eric Dailey and Ted Mathes officiating. Interment will be Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
