Esther M. Day, age 88, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 5:43 P.M. on Sunday, November 27, 2017, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center in Bryan, where she had been a resident. A graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, Mrs. Day was a registered nurse and had been employed by Thorn Hospital in Hudson, Michigan, for thirty years and later for Ausable Nursing Home in Fairview, Michigan, for nine years prior to her retirement. Esther loved to read, bake, cook, decorate for the holidays, knit and crochet and most of all enjoyed taking care of everybody.
Esther M. Day was born on October 30, 1929, in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence A. and Mildred L. (Covert) Baker. She married Gene E. Day on September 17, 1950, in Bascom, Ohio, and he survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Black, of Bristol, Indiana; one son, Stephen (Cathy) Day, of Bryan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Alford, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Yvonne Paffenbarger, of Venice, Florida; and one brother, Lowell Baker, of Fostoria, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Nighswander and Joyce Kummer; and one brother, Wayne Baker.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Jeff Brookins officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Ransom Township, Michigan.
