Maurice E. Degryse, age 96, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Monday, November 20, 2017 in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Degryse was a farmer and truck driver. He drove for the Bryan elevator, Central Transport and Hornish Brothers. Maurice was a lifetime member of the Eagles and had several race cars.
Maurice E. Degryse was born March 2, 1921, in Ney, the son of Paul and Edith (Bowman) Degryse. He married Evelyn A. Kimpel on May 27, 1940, in Edgerton and she preceded him in death in 1989.
Maurice is survived by a son, Victor (Bev) Degryse, of Bryan; daughters, Betty (Ken) Cassaubon, of Montpelier, Janet Bible, of Defiance, and Bonnie (Doug Cook) Degryse, of Bryan; special nephews he raised Walter, Darrell and Don Schwartzengraber; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and special friend, Virginia Beaverson. He was preceded by his parents; wife; son, Paul Degryse; infant son, Eugene Degryse; and sister, Johnnella L. Hill.
Services for Maurice E. Degryse will be on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Pastor Tim Tracy officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m., prior to the service. Mr. Degryse will be interred at Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan.
Memorials in the name of Maurice E. Degryse may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
