Kent A. Thiel

Kent A. “Longhair” Thiel, age 59, of Blakeslee, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Kent was a 1976 graduate of Edon High School and the Four-County Career Center. While in school he played football and basketball for the Bombers. He was employed by Adventure Homes in Auburn, Indiana, as a trimmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #3883 in Blakeslee and was a former member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. He was a friend to all and was a hard worker who was always willing to lend a hand. He especially loved his time spent with friends and family at Sam’s in Blakeslee. Kent A. Thiel was born on October 8, 1957, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Donald R. and Kuba R. (Karnes) Thiel. He married Rosemary A. (Augustine) Alexander on July 4, 2014, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Samantha Butler, and her companion, C.J. Krontz, of Auburn; one son, Donald Thiel, of Blakeslee; two grandchildren, Dalton and Broxton Butler; one stepson, Lincoln Calvin, of Stryker, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Deidre Calvin, also of Stryker; two brothers, Dallas Thiel, of Bryan, Ohio, and Mark Thiel, of Edon; one sister, Reneé Thiel, of Blakeslee; his former wife and mother of his children, Nancy (Bigger) Thiel, of Auburn; four aunts; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Frederick Duschl officiating. Private interment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Blakeslee. Memorials in the name of Kent Thiel are requested to the family or to Community Health Professionals Hospice, 127 Blakeslee Avenue, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
