Leona Lynnette Pierce, age 86, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 6:20 A.M. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where she was a resident after an extended illness. Mrs. Pierce was a 1949 graduate of Bryan High School. She worked along side her husband, Donald, as a bookkeeper at Pierce Sunoco in Edgerton which they operated from 1957 until he sold it in 1988. She was an avid bowler and had served as secretary of her bowling association for many years. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and being at the lake.
Leona Lynnette Piece was born on March 6, 1931, near Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Gerald and Aletha (Moog) Lovejoy. Her mother passed away due to complications of child birth a few years later and she was raised by her father and his second wife, Juanita (Moog) Lovejoy. She married Donald E. Pierce on December 10, 1949, in Bryan, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1989.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Peggy) Pierce, of Wauseon, Ohio; eight grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; one sister, Brenda (LaVon) Harrington, of Hudson, Florida; two brothers, Robert (Patricia) Lovejoy, of Bryan, and Jim Lovejoy, of Montpelier, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Donna Lovejoy and Vivian Lovejoy. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Pierce, in 1998; one son, Mitch Pierce, in 2017; two brothers, Gerald “Bud” Lovejoy and Terry Lovejoy; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lovejoy.
Services celebrating the lives of Leona Lynnette Pierce and her son, Mitch Pierce, will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Jeff Brookins officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Private interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
