Carlton J. (Johnny) “Skank” Heisler, age 81, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 7:15 P.M. on Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after an extended illness. John was a 1954 graduate of Edgerton High School and had served in the United States Army. He was employed as a union pipeline welder working for various contractors for forty-two years until his retirement and had owned and operated Skanks Bar and Grille in Edgerton for ten years. John was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, Montpelier Eagles Aerie #2246, Montpelier Moose Lodge #312, Bryan Am-Vets Post #54, Edgerton American Legion Post #10, The Amateur Trapshooters Association, Williams County Conservation League, Williams County Gun Club and the NRA. Johnny was avid fisherman and trapshooter.
Carlton John Heisler was born on July 26, 1936, near Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Raymond M. and Evelyn M. (Reichman) Heisler. He married Mary Jane (Kimpel) Carr on July 21, 1995, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives
Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Tammy (Keith) Schwab, of Edgerton; one son, Tom (Amy) Heisler, of Hebron, Indiana; two stepsons, Dusty (Stephanie) Carr, of Edon, Ohio and Matt (Carrie) Carr, of Hicksville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nikki Uribes, Clint Heisler, Molly Hartman, Zac Heisler, Chelsey Heisler-Vela, and Maddi Heisler; three step grandchildren Hunter J. Carr, Kylie Jo Carr and Kensington Carr; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Allan (Jean) Heisler, of Edgerton; and one sister, Sharon Alwood, of Toledo, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering celebrating the life of Carlton John “Johnny” Heisler will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Military rites will be conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489, beginning at 4:00 P.M. on the grounds of the funeral home.
