David E. Batt, Sr.

David E. Batt, Sr., age 82, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:55 P.M. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at The Inn at Fountain Park. He was a welder and supervisor at Bil-Jax in Archbold, Ohio, retiring after 41 years with the company. Mr. Batt was a member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and the Bryan Athletic Boosters. He was a Little League baseball coach for many years and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Browns and Notre Dame. He also enjoyed working in his yard and watching his grandchildren in their sporting events. David E. Batt was born in Ney, Ohio, on November 19, 1934, the son of Walter and Bessie (Hancock) Batt. He married Karen K. Stambaugh on May 28, 1964, in Bryan, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2007. Mr. Batt is survived by one daughter, Belinda (Ed) Taylor, of Jackson, Michigan; three sons, David E. (Jan) Batt, Jr., of Bryan, Ohio, Jon (Laura) Batt, of Senoia, Georgia, and Jerry (Angie) Batt, of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Annabelle Batt, of West Jefferson, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Dawn Rupp, in 2005, and his brother, Bernard. A private grave side funeral service for David E. Batt, Sr. will be held in Brown Cemetery, Bryan. There will be no visitation. Memorials in the name of David E. Batt, Sr. may be given to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America or the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio, c/o Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
