Lawrence R. Stantz, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:38 A.M. on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Stantz was a 1952 graduate of Ney High School and had been a mechanic at the Ford Garage in Bryan for forty-five years. He later went on to teach adult auto mechanics at Four County Career Center for several years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved his Cleveland Indians.
Lawrence R. Stantz was born on July 10, 1934, in Ney, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Dora (Funk) Stantz. He married Marilyn M. Whitney on June 7, 1953, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Joani) Stantz, of Stryker, Ohio, and David Stantz, of Bryan; one daughter, Ginny L. (Pedro Ramos) Stantz, of Bryan; two grandchildren, John (Teresa) Stantz, of Bryan, and April (Cory) Ringler, of Paulding, Ohio; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Velma Wineland, of Ney. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Judy Ann Stantz and Sandra Dee Stantz.
Grave side services for Lawrence R. Stantz will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. in Ney Cemetery with Pastor Linda Short officiating. Interment will be in Ney Cemetery.
