Gregory A. Sims

Gregory Sims, age 46, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at his home on July 2, 2017, surrounded by loved ones after an extended illness. Greg owned Merestone Title Agency and was a real estate investor. He also officiated Ohio High School Athletic Association basketball games for 23 years, was a member and past president of the Fifth District Officials Association, was a past member and President of the Board of Directors at Orchard Hills Country Club, was a member of the Bryan and Henry County Chambers of Commerce and was a regular donor to Bryan and Archbold Athletics, Christmas for Kids and other local nonprofit organizations. Greg was born on September 20, 1970, in Bryan, Ohio, to William A. and Karen J. (Vitek) Sims. He is a 1988 graduate of Fairview High School, where he lettered in basketball, baseball, track and cross country. He attended Defiance College, studying Business Management. He married Andrea “Annie” Daugherty on September 16, 2006, in Bryan, and she survives. Greg is also survived by his children, Kreighton, Alexa and Jenna Sims; his mother, Karen Sims, of Bryan; brother, Kevin (Holly) Sims, of Ney; two nieces and a nephew; uncles, Gerry (Kathy) Vitek, of Bryan, and Randy (Marcia) Vitek, of Defiance; and Annie’s extended family, including her parents, Bill and Deb Daugherty, grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, William Sims, and grandparents, Toney, Helga and Joan Vitek and John and Vivian Gilbert. Visitation for Greg Sims will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Father James Halleron officiating. Burial will follow at Evansport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Sims Children Educational Fund.
