Jerry G. Spencer, age 78, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 9:42 A.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near defiance, Ohio surrounded by his family. Mr. Spencer was a graduate of Bryan High School and employed by Challenge-Cook Brothers in Bryan, retiring with twenty-five years of service. In retirement he was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping with family especially at Indiana Beach, loved traveling the country with his wife in their motor home and was a big Ohio State Buckeye fan. In retirement he and his wife also worked in hotel management all around the country from California to Missouri, Iowa, Arizona and Florida and also managed storage units in Arizona and Florida. He and his wife retired again to be near family in Bryan. Jerry Glenn Spencer was born on March 21, 1939, in Hillsdale, Michigan, the son of Glenn A. and Estella Loueze (Nichols) Spencer. He married Ellen M. (Sonner) Poncsak in 1985 in Paulding, Ohio and she survives. Survivors also include, two daughters, Toni (Ken) Nichols, of Middleburg, Florida, and Jodi (John) Radabaugh, of Edgerton, Ohio; one son, Troy Spencer, of Farmer, Ohio; three grandchildren; Brandi Radabaugh, Allison Nichols, and Jason Nichols; a stepdaughter, Angie (Mark) Grine, of Liberty Center, Ohio; three stepsons; Andy (Suzanne) Poncsak, of Lewis Center, Ohio, Rick (Stephanie Grube) Poncsak, of Bryan, and Mick (Dana Ross) Poncsak, also of Bryan; and eleven step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, William J. “Bill” Smith; a granddaughter, Erika Grine; two sisters, JoAnne Hinton and Kay Reiniche; two step brothers, Jim and Don Smith; and a step sister, Susie Crayne. In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, he has gifted his body to science at the University of Toledo, Medical College. A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
