Shirley A. Shelt, age 85, of Delta, Ohio, died at 9:40 A.M. on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at the home of her daughter near Edgerton, Ohio, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Delta, Mrs. Shelt was a 1949 graduate of Pike-Delta-York High School. She was a cake decorator and had been employed by Lange’s Bakery in Archbold, Ohio, for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Delta American Legion Auxiliary and Fulton Union Church.
Shirley A. Shelt was born on November 7, 1931, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Aaron and Anna (Shawley) Rychener. She married Daniel B. Shelt on May 11, 1952, in Delta, and he preceded her in death in June 22, 1987.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan (Dave) Schultz, of Bluffton, Indiana, Karen (Mitch) Schoonover, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Linda Welch, of Liberty Center, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Celia Shaffer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Interment will take place at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Delta, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or Community Health Professionals Hospice and Home Health, 127 Blakeslee Avenue, Bryan, Ohio.
