Dale L. Armstrong

Dale L. Armstrong, age, 68, of Columbia, Ohio, died at 3:44 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola, Indiana, after an extended illness. Mr. Armstrong was a graduate of DeKalb High School and worked as a self-employed truck driver for many years and also had worked at Amcast Automotive in Fremont, Indiana, as well as farming. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had served in Viet Nam. An avid fisherman and hunter, he also enjoyed western books and movies and the show “Walker, Texas Ranger.” Dale L. Armstrong was born on July 30, 1948, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Buford and Susanna Armstrong. He married Maudie M. Hatfield on October 22, 1979, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she survives. Survivors also include his children, Jonathon Dean Armstrong, of Middletown, Ohio, Amanda Louise Ross, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Carrie Ann (Timothy) Miller, of Edon, Ohio; his stepchildren, Stan (Janice) Rice, of Henderson, Nevada, Scott (Brenda) Rice, of Montpelier, Ohio, Kevin (Sheri) Rice, of Columbia, Ohio, Juanita (Terry) Mocherman, of Hamilton, Indiana, Marcella Mullins, of Columbia, Rejina (John) Phipps, of Angola, Juan (Heather) Gonzales, of Angola, and Matthew (Cindy Sparkman) Gonzales, of Columbia; twenty-seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Kathy) Armstrong, of Auburn, Indiana, and Mark (Connie) Armstrong, of Waterloo, Indiana; and two sisters, Carroll Jean Stafford, of Ashley, Indiana, and Diane Armstrong, in Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dale L. Armstrong, Jr.; one stepson, Frank John Rice; two grandchildren, Dean and Treavor Miller; and one sister, Barbie Parks. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Pastor Jon List officiating. Interment will follow in the Columbia Cemetery. Grave side military rites will be conducted by the Hamilton American Legion. Memorials are requested to the family for expenses or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
