Annie Szuis

Annie Szuis, age 97, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier, Ohio, where she was a resident. Active to the age of ninety, Mrs. Szuis was an avid participant in Senior Olympic swimming competitions, often winning and being the oldest participant. She was a nursing home volunteer and supported Grace Community Church in Bryan. Annie was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on April 18, 1919, the daughter of John and Mary (Proaky) Matisze. She married Joseph F. Szuis on December 11, 1941, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and he preceded her in death in February 1982. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne (Dominic) Cardinale, of Bryan, and Marlene (Kim) Willott, of Bullhead City, Arizona; five grandchildren, Dominic (Pam) Cardinale, of Bryan, Tina (Mike) Wolfrum, of Napoleon, Ohio, Lisa (John) Kasimoff, and Linda (Tony) Slaman, both of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Joseph (Sandy) Cole, of Singapore; three step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Annie’s life will be held on Saturday, February11, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Kevin Kellum officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M., in the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Acazia Park Cemetery in North Tonawanda, New York. Memorials are requested to Grace Community Church in Bryan.
