Joan M. Davis, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:47 P.M. on Friday, January 27, 2017, in Anna’s House at Hillside Country Living near Bryan. Mrs. Davis was a 1945 graduate of Bryan High School and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan and the Altar Society. She also enjoyed cooking, pie making, playing cards, especially Euchre, and gardening in her flower gardens, where she grew over five hundred varieties of award-winning iris among her other flowers. For many years she took great pride in providing the altar flowers from her garden during the growing season.
Joan M. Davis was born on August 8, 1927, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Bessie L. (Strup) Wischmeyer. She married Earl E. Davis on January 11, 1947, in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2008.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Patty) Davis, of Bryan; five daughters, Deborah (Gene) Pahl, of Edgerton, Ohio, Barbara Taylor, of Toledo, Ohio, Catherine Davis, of Bryan, Patricia Davis, of Litchfield, Maine, and Ann (Dean) Spangler, of Bryan; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Claire Fiser, of Defiance, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wischmeyer, of Bryan. She was preceded in death by one son, Chris, in March 2000; an infant son, Stephen; two brothers, John and Herman Wischmeyer; and one sister, Mary McCord.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at 12:00 P.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Reverend James Halleron officiating. Private interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M., in the church.
