Richard “Duane” Jolly, age 82, of Stryker, Ohio, passed away at 6:47 A.M. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his family, after an extended illness. Mr. Jolly was a graduate of Stryker High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He was employed by The Aro Corporation as an aeronautical engineer for more than forty years, with fourteen of those years spent in the Buffalo, New York, plant. He was an active member of Bryan First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. His love of music, especially marches and gospel music, could also be seen in his singing at many weddings and funerals. Richard enjoyed building and refinishing furniture and restoring tractors.
Richard Duane Jolly was born on July 22, 1934, in Stryker, Ohio, the son of Charles E. and Gladys (Wolfe) Jolly. He married Phyllis Jean Vincent on July 17, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Rodney Jolly, of Wauseon, Ohio, and Roger (Sherry) Jolly, of Gloucester, Virginia; one daughter, Carol (Ken) Meyers, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Garber, of Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Jolly; his daughter-in-law, Pamela J. Jolly; two brothers, DeMaurice and Denver Jolly; and four sisters, Betty Ballreich, Pauline Hyatt, Mildred Rupp and Vivian Cain.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church, 925 East Fountain Drive, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in the Bryan First Baptist Church with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, near Bryan.
