Rosemary Altaffer, age 83, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 7:20 P.M. on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Community Health and Wellness Centers-Bryan. Mrs. Altaffer was a homemaker and a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489 Auxiliary. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling and playing the slide guitar.
Rosemary was born on December 18, 1932, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Warren V. and Cleo J. (Stewman) Calvin. She married Merle O. Altaffer on April 15, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2014.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Merle Allan (Cynthia) Altaffer, of Lima, Ohio, Hazel Jean (Andrew) Vargo, of Bryan, Warren Ralph (Linda) Altaffer, of Hurricane, Utah, Ann Marie (Brent) Stimpfle and Denise Kay (George) Gebhart, both also of Bryan; nine grandchildren, Hayley Schmidt, Brent Tewksbury, Kyle (Itzell) Tewksbury, Todd (Linzi) Stimpfle, Wyatt (Allison) Stimpfle, Ryan (Danielle) Altaffer, Phillip (Shelly) Altaffer, Julie Baker and Jeff Altaffer; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Amber Calvin, of Silverdale, Washington; brother-in-law, Ralph Altaffer, of Bryan; and sister-in-law, Vaneta (Walter) Hicks, of Montpelier, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; one son, Danny; and brothers, Richard, Ralph, Raymond and Doyle Calvin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. and services to immediately follow at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Interment will be at Fountain Grove Cemetery.
