Charles W. Mauk, Sr., age 72, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 7, 2016, in his home after an extended illness. Mr. Mauk was employed by Bard Manufacturing as a Quality Control Manager, retiring with thirty-eight years of service. Known for his creative artistic talents, Chuck was a singer and guitar player with the band, Potpourri, which was one of the first rock bands in the area, performing at venues throughout the tri-state area. In the early 70s they were the house band at the “Rathskeller” at Kaufman’s in Bryan. Not only was he a lover of music, he was also an accomplished painter and enjoyed creating his own metal work sculptures. He loved the fact that he was able to hand down his talents to his children and granddaughters.
Charles W. Mauk, Sr. was born on December 3, 1943, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Robert F. and Arlene June (Gaskill) Mauk. He married Patricia L. Hollingsworth on April 28, 1963, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charles W.(Amanda) Mauk, Jr., of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Johnathon (Karen) Mauk, of Traverse City, Michigan; two grandchildren, Grace and Anna Mauk; two brothers, Jim (Annaliese) Mauk, of Highland, California, and Ron (Louisa) Mauk, of Twenty-nine Palms, California; and one sister, Barbara (Richard) Bennett, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Richard Mauk; and one grandson, Charles Mauk III.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow immediately, beginning at 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Reverend Rick Neville officiating. Interment in Fountain Grove Cemetery will be private.
