Harold E. Whitman, age 93, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 3:10 P.M. on Monday, October 3, 2016, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio where he was a patient. Mr. Whitman was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was employed as an independent truck driver for thirty years. He was a member of Bryan AmVets Post #54 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and snowmobiling.
Harold E. Whitman was born on November 1, 1922, near Hamilton, Indiana, the son of Glen Eugene and Bertha Mae (Rosenberry) Whitman. He married Edith I. Blosser on March 15, 1941, in Auburn, Indiana and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2006.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Dolores) Whitman, of Bryan; three daughters, Sally (Richard) Steffes, of Blakeslee, Ohio, Gene (Mark) Richer, of Arvada, Colorado and Shirley (Vess Velikov) Whitman, of Auburn, Washington; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Marshall) Horn, of Lafayette, Indiana; and a sister-in-law, Joan Whitman, of Hamilton, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Reign Whitman; and three brothers, Reign, Vernon and Cecil Duane Whitman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Dan Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Center Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489.
