Joan Elizabeth Marlow, age 79, returned to her heavenly home on Friday, September 23, 2016. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Joan was born to the late Martin and Alice Lenfestey, an electrical engineer and homemaker, respectively, in Toledo, Ohio, on April 18, 1937. She was a proud 1955 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. Her family was her priority while occasionally working outside the home as a secretary, librarian, and insurance agent.
Joan married who would be her life long soul mate, Roger Marlow, on June 20,1959, in Point Place, Ohio. Joan raised three children with love, patience, and understanding, supporting their goals and pursuits in schooling and life. She was always willing to listen and discuss life problems and offering sound advice in times of crisis. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate she is at peace with her creator.
Joan is survived by her husband, Rev. Roger Marlow; her twin sister, Joyce Thomas; her sons, Daniel and Dr. Matt Marlow; her daughter, Marilyn Mikolajczyk; her grandchildren, Megan, Alexa, and Sierra Marlow and Brian, Sarah, Tony, and Lily Mikolajczyk. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Beverly Grimm.
There will be a memorial service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Edon, Ohio, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, with a luncheon to follow, where condolences and memories will be accepted as we celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or to Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center.
