Delmar D. Smith, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the Cleveland Clinic. He had been a bus driver for Central Local schools for 20 years and had worked for Ney Oil Company for 36 years. Delmar was a member of the Farmer United Methodist Church and the Farmer American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army and had served 16 years as the Farmer Township Clerk. He was a kidney transplant recipient 42 years ago. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time at the Defiance County fair watching his grandchildren show their animals. Delmar enjoyed driving the Fairview football and basketball teams to all their away games and watching the kids compete.
Delmar D. Smith was born on November 17, 1940, in Farmer, Ohio, the son of Leo Dean and Mary Magdalen (Burley) Smith. On August 2, 1964, he married Scarlet J. Zeedyk in Hicksville, Ohio, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa (Jeffrey) Friend, of Hicksville, and Amy Skinner, of Bryan; grandchildren, Abigail, Gabrielle and Ethan Friend and Lindsey, Madison, Luke and Caleb Skinner; and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim, Charles, Tom and Rolland Smith.
Visitation for Delmar D. Smith will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 2:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ron Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery with grave side military rites provided by the Farmer American Legion.
