John E. "Jack" Taylor

John E. “Jack” Taylor, age 86, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:32 P.M. on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan after a brief illness. Mr. Taylor was a 1953 graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and worked for the Norton Company in Worcester, Massachusetts, for thirty-two years until retirement. He then worked for The Aro Corporation in Bryan for five years in sales and marketing. He was an active member of Bryan First Presbyterian Church, where he formerly served as an elder. He was also an active member of the Bryan Rotary Club where he participated in the Rotary Reads program, reading to the kindergarten class for twelve years and was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Taylor was a dedicated volunteer at Sauder Village, where he was a train engineer, and was an avid collector of antique cars. He enjoyed his model trains and radio-controlled airplanes and was an animal lover. John E. “Jack” Taylor was born on April 13, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Raymond E. and Alfhild (Anderson) Taylor. He married Vivian L. Gleason on December 27, 1952, in Evanston, Illinois, and she survives. Survivors also include one son, William E. (Susan) Taylor, of Charleston, South Carolina; one daughter, Catherine Taylor Regnier, of Bryan; four grandchildren, Erin Taylor, of Herndon, Virginia, Elise Taylor, of Seattle, Washington, W. Joseph Regnier IV, of West Boylston, Massachusetts, and Ryan Regnier, of Marlborough, Massachusetts. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 506 Oxford Drive, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Barry Sweet officiating. Military honors will be rendered by United States Army Honor Guard. Memorials are requested to the First Presbyterian Church or to Sauder Village, State Route 2, P.O. Box 235, Archbold, Ohio 43502 Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, has been entrusted with services.
