Gaylan J. Thiel, age 73, of Edon, Ohio, died at 11:47 P.M. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Wauseon, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mrs. Thiel had worked for Wolff Tractor Sales in Edon, was a longtime bus driver for the Edon Northwest Schools and also worked at PTC in Edon. She also owned and operated the Country Store Carry-out in Edon for seven years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, Ohio.
Gaylan J. Thiel was born on March 3, 1943, in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of Bernard and Madonna (Lucas) May. She married Ronald R. Thiel on February 11, 1960, in Blakeslee, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2016.
Survivors include four daughters, Yvonda (Curtis) Stantz, of Wauseon, Ohio, Cheryl Fenstermaker, of Edon, Michele (Joseph) Headley, of Edon, and Rachael (Jeremy) Welch, of Edgerton, Ohio; one son, Chris (Janis) Thiel, of Edgerton; seventeen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Byall, of Roanoke, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Patrick Thiel; a granddaughter, Allyson Word; and a great-granddaughter, Kyla Bree Stantz; two sisters, Betty Jones and Delores Ward; and an infant brother, Reece May.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home. Services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Borgelt and Reverend Fred Duschl officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Blakesee.
