Kay M. Dennis, age 84, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:45 A.M. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a brief illness.
Kay M. Dennis was born on December 23, 1931, near Farmer, Ohio, the daughter of K.O. and Opal (Blosser) Engler. She married Richard Dennis on February 14, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1995.
Kay was a 1949 graduate of Edgerton High School and was employed by The Ohio Art Company in Bryan, Ohio, as an executive secretary, retiring in 1992 with thirty-five years of service. She was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ, Phythian Sisters, Order of the Eastern Star and the Edgerton Historical Society.
When she was younger, Kay raised rabbits and racing pigeons. She also played bass guitar in a band, enjoyed riding her motorcycle and once drove her brother’s race car in a race and came in second.
Survivors include her three children, Marilynn (Greg) Hanson, of Richfield, Minnesota, Pat Pate, of Brooklyn, Michigan, and Mark (LaDonna) Dennis, of Hicksville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Pate, Barbara (Tyler) Jeffreys, Wren (Dennis) LaPorte, Shonda (John) Bradley, Ron (Valerie) Pate, Jackie Pate, Brandon Smith, Jacqui (Tony) Rosen and Orion (Marcy) Hanson; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Karen (Robert) Kensill, of Rincon, Georgia, and Kathy (Keith) Whitman, of Edgerton; a sister-in-law, Judy Engler, of Bryan; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews who knew her as Auntie Kay. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Ricky Lee Dennis; two brothers, Byron and Denny Engler; and an infant brother, Owen Dee Engler.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Kay M. Dennis will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, with D.V. Dillinger officiating. The family will receive visitors in the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
