Orvel James Yarger, age 99, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 4:05 A.M. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Yarger was a 1936 graduate of Montpelier High School and was plant manager for Richmond Machine in Montpelier, retiring in 1983 with twenty-one years of service. He was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ, the Experimental Aircraft Association, Edgerton Masonic Lodge #357 F&AM that later merged with Bryan Lodge #215 F&AM and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. He also enjoyed gardening and riding motorcycles, which he did to the age of 88.
Orvel James Yarger was born on September 2, 1916, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Elroy Arthur and Vivian Laurel (Tingle) Yarger. He married his wife of seventy-six years, Luella F. “Leu” Wolford, on August 3, 1940, in Hicksville, Ohio, and she survives.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Katrina (Rob) Nutter, of Winchester, Virginia, James Yarger, of Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph (Bridget) Yarger, of Edgerton, Kimberly Yarger, of Defiance, Ohio, and Jonathan (Kristin) Yarger, of Winchester, Virginia; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Barry Yarger in 2013, and Jeff Yarger, who died in Vietnam on March 18, 1968; one brother, Archiel Yarger; and one sister, Betty Mae Miller.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Masonic services will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edgerton Church of Christ with Pastor Donny Goff officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio.
