Robert James Lupien, age 72, of Edon, Ohio, died on March 2, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Lupien was a an over-the-road truck driver for many years. He also worked as a police officer for the City of Toledo in the 1960s. After high school, Robert worked with troubled youth in Florida, taking three-month wagon trips out west. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era in the 82nd Airborne Division. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout and reached the level of Eagle Scout. Robert loved the spending time in the outdoors, where he felt most at home. Robert James Lupien was born on February 6, 1944, in Newberry, Michigan, the son of Philip and Charlotte (Carpenter) Lupien. He is survived by his brothers, Roger Lupien, of Lansing, Michigan, and Gerald Lupien, of DeWitt, Michigan, and sisters, Lora Barber, of Langsburg, Michigan, Patricia Smith, of Edon, Ohio, Sue Arnott, of Bad Axe, Michigan, Linda Walter, of Corunna, Michigan, Barbara Speerbrecker, of Newberry, Michigan, and Carolyn Cook, of Marion, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Philip J. Lupien, Jr., half sister, Gwenda Shieding, and sister, Betty Brandt. In accordance with Robert’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services held. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, Edon. Memorials are requested to the Williams County Veterans Building Fund.
