Billy “Bennie” Harmon, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 5:45 A.M. on Monday, February 22, 2016, surrounded by his family, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio. Mr. Harmon was a 1959 graduate of Hellier High School in Hellier, Kentucky, and served in the United States Army. He left Eastern Kentucky with a group of friends in the early 1960s to find jobs and a future in Ohio, settling in Bryan. A tool and die maker by trade, he worked for Hayes-Albion until the plant closed and then for ITT-Higbie in Archbold, Ohio, until his retirement in 2004. Billy was a loyal member of the UAW and was always busy gardening and tinkering. Billy Harmon was born on March 12, 1940, in Harlan County, Kentucky to Ola Hylton and was raised by his grandfather, William Harmon. He married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Joyce Gail Coleman, on December 16, 1961, in Clintwood, Virginia. Following her graduation from nursing school, Joyce joined Billy in Ohio, where they made their home for the fifty plus years. Celebrating his life as a hardworking man, a caring husband and a good father are his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Kimberly (Suzanne) Harmon and Kelly (Sean) Harmon-Hash; granddaughters, Taylor Harmon and Autumn and Makala Hash; great-granddaughter, Ophelia Harmon; and one brother, Mac (Judy) Coleman, of Rockhouse, Kentucky. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Interment will take place in Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center.
