Tommie Nichols, age 69, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:40 P.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a patient, after an extended illness. Mr. Nichols was employed by Edgerton Manufacturing until the plant closed and then by Dietrich Industries until his retirement. He was member of the Butler, Indiana, Eagles, Pheasants Forever and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Tommie Nichols was born on March 4, 1946, in Belding, Michigan, the son of Sammie and Vergie (Williams) Nickells. He is survived by three sons, Tom Nichols, in Colorado, Chad Kurtz, of Antwerp, Ohio, and Jon Rose, of Hamilton, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Kelly John Nickells, of Lima, Ohio, Diane (William) Pugh, of Edgerton, Sam (Dawn) Nickells, of Edon, Ohio, Charles Nickells, of Lima, Walter (Theresa) Nickells, of Edgerton, Cindy (Dennis) Kurtz, of Edgerton, and Jan (Misty) Nickells, of Lima. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Karen Nichols; two sons, Michael Nichols and Scott Patrick; two brothers, Darrell and Danny Nickells; and one sister, Barbara Swickrath. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. and 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, followed by a time of sharing celebrating the life of Tommie Nichols. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
