Doran R. Hitt, age 82, of Stryker, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at his home. Doran was a graduate of Bryan High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at the former Holabird company, retired from The Aro Corporation after more than 30 years of service and then worked at Hayes Albion/Trim Trends. Doran was a fan of college sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and golf. He raised and raced racing pigeons when he was younger. Doran R. Hitt was born on August 20, 1933, in Bryan, the son of Ray F. and Neva (Reeves) Hitt. He married Carol J. Rath on June 11, 1966, in Bryan and she survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Jennifer (Ken) Chandler, of Bryan, and Amanda (Brook) Oberlin, of Stryker; a son, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Hitt, of Lagrange, Indiana; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon (Terry) Witte, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Al Hitt and Paul Hitt. Visitation for Doran R. Hitt will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. The family requests memorial donations to the Williams County Humane Society.
